As the economy rapidly changes due to constant technological developments, it has implications for everyone in higher education. Students need to engage in activities that will help them develop the skills necessary to succeed in the workforce of tomorrow. Faculty and administrators need to create opportunities for such engagement.
On Friday, Feb. 8, Jeffrey Selingo, a leading authority on higher education, will offer insights on how college will change in the future—how families will pay, what campuses will look like and how students will learn and prove their value in the job market.
The talk, sponsored by the Career Center, will take place at the Kelvin Smith Library from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Selingo is editor at large of The Chronicle of Higher Education, after serving as editor from 2007 to 2011 and working at the publication for 15 years. He writes a regular blog and column for The Chronicle and The Huffington Post called “Next,” where he explores innovation in higher education. He was also chosen by LinkedIn to be part of its inaugural Influencers program, where he shares his insights, knowledge and advice with the professional network’s members. Selingo is a senior fellow at Education Sector, an independent education think tank in Washington, D.C.
