“Bill Bruford: Creativity in Music”

Bill Bruford next to a drumsetOn Wednesday, April 18, renowned drummer Bill Bruford will visit campus for a lecture in which he analyzes the creative processes of drumming using his own—and other famous musicians’—expertise and insights.

Bruford, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017 as a member of the group Yes, demonstrates the ways in which expert drummers experience creativity in performance and offers fresh insights into in-the-moment interactional processes in music.

Sponsored by the Center for Popular Music Studies, the event will take place April 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Tinkham Veale University Center, Ballroom C. This lecture is free and open to the public.
