Celebrate Asian Mid-Autumn Festival with the Center for International Affairs Wednesday, Oct. 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Thwing Center.
Throughout much of Eastern Asia, the successful harvest is commonly celebrated when the moon shines bright in the sky. This holiday, which can go by many names like Tet Trung Thu, Tsukimi and Chuseok, is about bringing families together. Traditions vary, but often family and friends join to celebrate the harvest of rice and wheat, eat special desserts like mooncakes, share traditional stories, hang lanterns and appreciate the moon in the sky.
Attendees can stop by booths run by student clubs and community organizations for fun games and activities.
There will be traditional mooncakes and songpyeon. The center also will give away free blankets.
This event is an opportunity to experience the celebration of an important and popular holiday in Asian culture.
