The Career Center is hiring student Career Peers for Fall 2018!

Career Peers are dynamic CWRU students who work 8-12 hours a week as paraprofessional staff members in the Career Center. Serving as student ambassadors, Career Peers support the goals of the Career Center and assist the professional and support staff. General qualifications are:

  • Willingness and availability to work 8-12 hours per week, as needed, including evening availability and occasional weekends
  • Weekday availability to support a minimum of 3-4 hours of Drop-in Consulting service (Mon-Thurs, 11 to 2 p.m.)
  • Availability to fulfill workshops for student groups and host employer information sessions during days, evenings and weekends
  • Ability to work on a team and be a dedicated team player
  • Experience or desire to gain experience working with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills or desire to gain leadership experience

Additional job responsibilities may include:

  • Review students’ resumes and provide feedback, especially through Drop-in Consulting hours
  • Assist students with accessing career information via online resources, such as Handshake
  • Support job posting and employer profile information approval on Handshake
  • Actively participate in Career Center programs and events, including assistance with Career Fair
  • Develop and conduct workshops and presentations on career-related topics on campus for student organizations as requested
  • Conduct research on career trends or topics and share information with staff and students as part of special projects
  • Assist with CWRU Career Center marketing and social media efforts
  • Provide back-up coverage for front desk
  • Participate in weekly Career Peer meetings
